Youth Summer Language Camp - Ages 14-17

Program Details

Located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Humber College offers a special 3-week all-inclusive summer language camp for young students’ aged 14-17 years. Humber’s accredited language instructors will pre-assess students’ English abilities and conduct language lessons utilizing Humber’s unique language labs, to improve students’ English skills and bring relevance to their learning. In addition to daily English classes, students will participate in a variety of half-day and full-day excursions to popular attractions in and around the city of Toronto such as Niagara Falls, Wasaga Beach, CN Tower and more. Throughout the program, students are immersed in an English environment that is specially designed to include a healthy balance of learning, activities, games, sports and just plain fun! It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn about Canada, meet new friends and explore the amazing sights.

English Program

The General English Program is designed to help students of all levels, develop their English language abilities.  Upon arrival at Humber, students are assessed and grouped according to their level of English. Students receive 20 hours of english per week (15hrs. classes 5hrs workshops) with classes usually taking place on weekday mornings. Classes are taught by certified instructors utilizing Humber’s specialized language labs. Classes are interactive and meaningful, allowing students to learn about Canadian culture and bring meaning to their Canadian adventure.  Students are awarded a “certificate of completion” by Humber College at the end of the program.

Activites & Excurions

Each afternoon and evening, students will participate in a variety of activities and excursions where they can practice their conversational English, explore Canadian culture and have fun with their new friends from around the world. Activities range from hands-on workshops in robotics, computer animation or culinary skills in our specialized technology labs, to outdoor sports, nature walks, movies and dances. To add to this fun-packed Canadian adventure, trips are planned to Toronto’s local cultural sites such as Casa Loma, CN Tower and the Metro Zoo. In addition, students attend special sporting events and spend time exploring the Harbourfront and trendy shopping areas.  

  • The full day weekend excursions allow students time to relax and explore different attractions unique to the geographic region of southern Ontario. Day trips include:

    • Canada’s Wonderland - one of North America’s premier amusement parks
    • Wasaga Beach – 14km of white sand beach on Georgian Bay
    • Niagara Falls – enjoy a boat ride to the base of the most powerful waterfall in North America
    • Toronto Island - A waterfront picnic park made up of several islands with tourist features such as Centreville
      and the historic Gibraltar Point Lighthouse.

    To make sure everyone has a safe and memorable adventure, all activities and excursions are lead by our knowledgeable and enthusiastic student Counsellors.

    Supervision

    Daily cultural activities, games and excursions are lead by our senior college/university students who act as counsellors. Counsellors are responsible for supervising the students at all times. They stay with the students in Residence each night to ensure everyone obeys evening curfew and are prepared for the next day’s adventure.

    Food

    Students will enjoy dining in Humber’s newly renovated Food Emporium where an “all-you-can-eat” buffet menu is sure to satisfy everyone’s taste buds. Each meal contains a variety of hot and cold main dishes and a selection of salads, vegetables, fresh fruits and tasty desserts. Something for everyone! During excursions off-campus, students also have the opportunity to purchase unique foods and snacks from local vendors and restaurants to round out their Canadian experience.

    Accommodations

    Students will enjoy staying on campus in Humber’s air-conditioned Student Residence. The Student Residence offers student-friendly, dormitory-style accommodations. Each student will have their own private room. Shared bathrooms and TV lounges are located on each floor. The building is also equipped with, laundry facilities, a fitness room, games room and 24hr security.  

    Each dormitory room contains:

    • 1 Single Bed with Bed Linens
    • Desk & Chair
    • Clothes Closet
    • Mini-Fridge
    • High Speed Internet (Ethernet cable is required)
    • Telephone (free local calling)
    • Security - Swipe Card Access

    Fees and Dates

    3-Week Program   Cost:  $3,650.00 Canadian Dollars (includes all taxes)

    Cancellation and Refund Policy

    The $200.00 deposit is non-refundable.
    All cancellations must be received in writing. No exceptions.
    Cancellations received prior to 14 days of the start of session, a 50% refund will apply – minus the $200.00 non-refundable deposit. Refunds for credit card payments will be credited back to the credit card cardholder. All other payments (money orders, bank drafts, wire transfers), refunds will be issued by cheque in the student’s name only.Cancellations received within 14 days of session start date, NO REFUND will apply.

    What's Not Included

    • Air Travel to and from Toronto
    • Snacks between meals
    • Personal Spending Money – students will require some additional money to purchase lunch and dinner while on the “full day” excursions and food snacks,souvenirs/gifts, and/or any personal items.

    Note:Airport pick-up/drop off for early/late arrival/departure dates can be arranged at an additional cost of $30.00/per person
