Humber College and the TDSB Continuing Education Department team up!

This past summer I had the opportunity to team up with Humber College to deliver the Grade 11 College Biology program on campus. The program squeezed 110 hours of instruction into only fourteen action-packed days.

With such a condensed program, I knew planning had to begin early in order to complete all the preparation for this course before the start date in mid-July. In May, I began collaborating with Pat Tait, Manager of Camps and Special Events, and her colleague Romaine Waite, Camp-Choice Coordinator. Both Pat and Romaine were eager to work with the TDSB and they immediately invited me to Humber campus for a tour. On our tour, Pat and Romaine showcased all the campus resources that were linked to the biology curriculum. I was excited about the fantastic resources I would have at my fingertips! Not only that, but my classroom was fully equipped with A/V equipment and there was a computer lab available to us all day, whenever we needed it. I felt like I had landed in a teachers paradise! And theres more! Three fabulous college students were assigned to be with our students all day. They acted as student mentors, cafeteria and residence supervisors and helpful hands in the classroom. What a dream!
